GSTR-2B vs Purchase Register Reconciliation
Upload GSTR-2B and your purchase register, and see which invoices match, which differ, which are in your books but missing from 2B, and how much input tax credit is at risk with each supplier.
Free, no login. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type or upload is sent to our servers.
1. GSTR-2B
2. Purchase register
An export from Tally, Busy, Zoho or any spreadsheet — one row per invoice or per rate line.
3. Match
A computational aid, not professional advice. Check results against the governing law, notifications and your own judgement before relying on them.
How the matching works
- Normalise: GSTINs and document numbers are cleaned up, dates are read day-first, and multi-rate lines of the same invoice are added together.
- Exact pass: same GSTIN and same document number. Matched if the date and amounts agree within the tolerance, otherwise Mismatch, with the differing fields named.
- Probable pass: numbers that only agree after normalising (for example
INV/2025-26/0042andinv-42). You decide whether they are the same document. - Leftovers: in books but not in 2B (the ITC at risk), and in 2B but not in books (possibly unbooked purchases).
The same files always give the same result. Nothing is auto-corrected; the tool only classifies.
Run this every month, for every client
AuditorTax reconciles GSTR-2B deterministically for all the clients you manage — GSTIN, invoice number, date and amount — from one login.
Frequently asked questions
How does the GSTR-2B reconciliation match invoices?
It first pairs documents with the same supplier GSTIN and the same invoice or note number. A pair is Matched when the date and every amount agree within your tolerance, and Mismatch otherwise, with the differing fields listed. Documents left over are compared again after normalising the number (case, separators, leading zeros, financial-year prefixes such as 2025-26/). Those pairs are shown as Probable matches, never silently counted as matched.
What does ITC at risk mean here?
Tax in your purchase register that GSTR-2B does not support: invoices missing from 2B, the shortfall where 2B shows less tax than your books, the tax on documents 2B marks as ITC not available, and credit notes in 2B that are not yet in your books (credit you have to reverse). It is the credit to follow up with suppliers before you claim it.
Which purchase register formats work?
Any Excel or CSV export, from Tally, Busy, Zoho Books or a hand-made sheet. The tool finds the header row, guesses which column is which, and lets you correct it. It remembers your choices in this browser for files with the same headers.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Both files are read and matched inside your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers.
How are credit notes handled?
Credit notes are matched against credit notes and debit notes against debit notes. In totals, a credit note reduces tax, whether your register shows it as a positive or a negative amount.
